The foundation of Dr B. R. Ambedkar University (originally known as Agra University), was laid on the 1st of July, 1927. As a result of hectic efforts of a band of enthusiastic educationists like, Rev. Canon A.W. Davis, Munshi Narain Prasad Asthana, Dr L.P. Mathur, Lala Dewan Chand, Rai Bahadur Anand Swaroop and Dr Brajendra Swaroop,. Original jurisdiction of University extended over United Provinces of Agra. Central India and Rajputana with 14 affiliated colleges and 2530 students of which, 1475 students belonged to United Provinces. Initially there were only four faculties in the University viz. Arts, Sciences, Commerce and Law. Faculties of Medicine (1936), Agriculture (1938), Home Science (1980), Basic Sciences (1981), Fine Arts (1982) and Management (1994) were added subsequently. A decisive characteristics in influencing the education of an academic institution is the pursuit of excellence and consistent adherence to high standard in terms of imparting knowledge promoting research and in personal and social conduct. During last seventy-five years the University has endeavored to keep adopting these high ideas and has established rich traditions and evolved respect from the intellectual community. Objectives of AAAU

Among the important objectives of the Association are: To promote and foster mutually beneficial interaction between the Alumni and the present students of Agra University ,Agra, and between Alumni themselves. To encourage the Alumni to take an active and abiding interest in the work and progress of the university so as to contribute towards the enhancement of the social utility of their Alma Mater. It has plan to established an “Award for Outstanding Contribution to National Development” to recognize contributions made by Agra University alumni in various facets of national development. The AAAU will soon will encourage setting up of chapters in India, and abroad.

AAAU is the collective body of large numbers alumni of Indian Agra University. Apart from serving as centre for information about the alumni, it initiates programs and organizes events important to alumni, their alma mater, and in the national interest. AAAU is dedicated to bringing together the alumni community on a common platform.  Its aim is to build another channel of personal, academic and professional support to members through ‘self-help’ within community. All of us might agree that compared to the rich legacy and the golden times of our alma-mater, the current avatar i.e. Dr B.R. Ambedkar University is lacking its past glory in many respects. We may be having CAs, doctors, scientists, lawyers, public servants, managers, social workers, writers in terms of thousands among our alumni working NCR and across the country, but the name of Agra University is hardly counted now-a-days among the prestigious universities of the country. Debacles and declines of last few decades in the overall governance and running of our alma-mater have almost erased its past glory.
